As you know, I was one of David's colleagues in the early 90s. It is incredibly helpful for me to hear him speak at length and so honestly on the kinds of things those of us who have repeatedly been to war struggle with.
I am so happy to be back in touch with him - we just spent a few days together in Provence.
My mental health has been severely compromised by the things I did and saw, and I am trying to do something about the elephant in the room David mentioned - how newsroom could prepare one better (of course, not fully) and could certainly do better when you get back home, a changed and sometimes damaged human.
