As someone who was also put into a coma (in Woolwich hospital) following a sudden and very severe asthma attack, I can so relate to so much of this - especially the confusion and violence when brought out of it, screaming insults and tearing out my catheter and the (very long!) tube up my nose. Resonated a lot. And the consultant telling me, on my day of release, "You're the lady we thought wouldn't make it" and feeling oh so grateful for the NHS.

On another note, I suffered a nervous breakdown, years earlier, from which I had to be shocked out of after six weeks (eight sessions of ECT in Dartford - thankfully none of which I remember) and it actually made fear death less.

Goodness! Iā€™m glad it connected with you, not glad of the reason why it did. ā¤ļø

Really good episode...I was surprised that his experience made him less comfortable with death, my 2 brushes with it in plane accidents made me more resigned to it, but also more determined to make more of my time. It also shocked me out of my religious mind set, which is kind of a strange consequence I guess?
